In an homage to the 1960s and the era of Jean Shrimpton and David Bailey in We'll Take Manhattan - the duo that created the legendary 1962 images for Vogue - New Zealand's photographer Gavin Jaymes and I set out to shoot on the streets of New York, on a murky fall day. Usually by the time October comes, fall has steadily settled in; not this October. 2008 hit me with the burning desire to cut all of my hair. Since bobs - in particular the Katie Holmes bob - were so popular, I decided to go for it. I loved it for about two weeks, after which I absolutely hated it for the remaining two years it took to grow back :) Each time I look at the pictures now, I kind of wish I had short hair again.
