A touch of paradise: Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort

A land known for its abundance of green, hundreds of volcanoes, lush rainforests and splendid beaches is sure to satisfy any type of traveler. But after a long ride from San Jose, into La Fortuna, I was ready to explore the great thermal springs I had heard so much about, located in Tabacon.

A short cab ride away from La Fortuna will leave you at the Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort, a five star hotel known for its beauty and comfort. However, the main attraction here are surely the Tabacon Hot Springs, an oasis set in the lush jungle, this garden of Eden of sorts blessed with lively waterfalls. Every element of nature is present in this unique  hotel and resort overlooking Arenal Volcano – the largest active volcano in Costa Rica -  the heat of the volcano, the flowing waters of the hot, thermal springs, the pure air of the rainforest and the fertile earth of the Fortuna de San Carlos Region. I wouldn’t be lying in saying Tabacon now reigns supreme on my list of ecotravel relaxation methods.

Laura and I soaked for hours on end, while having a bit of fun with the GoPro. The results? A great deal of fun and much needed rest!

Entrance to the Tabacon Hot Springs is a hefty $85, which I initially thought it’s quite high given we were in Central America. However, after a copious lunch and several hours in wellness paradise, it was clear it was worth every penny.

Ah that looks amazing! What I wouldn’t give to be in that waterfall right now! It’d wash the worries of the work week away… Lovely :-)

I know, me too! Not just for the warmth and relaxing effect, but the overall serene ambiance …

You are killing me with your pictures! I feel like packing my bag and go there how. It looks absolutely fabulous!

      Then why don’t you? :)

Gorgeous, I could so do with a soak in those waters now. Do love hot springs, there’s something so nice about soaking away in the heat among nature.

      True, it’s quite idyllic.

This looks heavenly. I had two experiences this past year in thermal pools (Budapest and at a spa in Italy) which were wonderful. I’d love to have such an experience in such a natural setting as Tabacon offers.

I love it as well, healthy and relaxing. What would one need more, right?

OK Monica, I’m reading this while in Chicago, in the middle of winter… Going to this spa now would be fan-tas-tic! These photos are really cool, especially the ones with water splashing all over.

Thank you, Pola. I know what you mean, not much warmer in NYC either. And love those pictures as well, they were taken with the Go Pro.
