In a world where globalization is the new norm, people around the world expect to voraciously consume entertainment with only a click of a button. Overlapping several frontiers, somewhere between the world of dance, music and theatre and the realm of the digitally interactive experience, lies VirtualArtsTV - the first company dedicated to live-streaming the performing arts to viewers across the globe.
VirtualArtsTV’s productions are performed in front of a live audience while simultaneously being shot with multiple cameras, edited in real time, and streamed live to the Internet so that anyone, anywhere in the world can watch the shows.
And beginning with February 19th up to March 2nd, it gets even better. Over the course of 12 days, 14 shows will be running at the WiredArts Fest, the first of its kind, live-streamed performing arts festival. Live audiences can seat up to 100 people however online seating is unlimited. During the performance, viewers can participate in live chat discussions and interact in real-time through Twitter and Facebook. Given today’s wired audience and its increasing need to consume media, VirtualArtsTV is seizing the opportunity to give artists, producers and writers access to global audiences. Performances in The WiredArts Fest include Abstract Nude, written by Gwydion Suilebhan (a true digital play experience that challenges the audience to “create yourself in your own image”), Exit 12 (a NYC-based dance company whose work is based on Artistic Director Roman Baca’s service in the Marines which was recently featured on CNN), Huis Clos (following a sold-out run and performed in French with English subtitles), Alice and Elizabeth’s One Woman Show (an awarding winning real life comedy about friendship, feminism, aging and cancer) and Die: Roll to Proceed (an audience participatory choose-your-own-adventure comedy with 240 possible outcomes).
The WiredArts Fest will be streamed live from The New Media Center at The Secret Theatre from February 19th to March 2nd, 2013.
